Preventive measures for all pests you can take are :

  • Do not leave piles of clothing, papers or other miscellaneous things laying around
  • Regular cleaning and maintenance of your home or business
  • When cleaning, check under carpet edges and baseboards
  • Do not have dirty dishes piled up and sitting for long periods of time, especially not in old water
  • Especially in hot weather, put your food scraps in plastic before disposing of them
  • Schedule regular pest control maintenance

Boxelder Bugs Pest Control and Infromation

     Boxelder Bugs  

Characteristics

  • Adult boxelder bugs are 1/2 inch long
  • They are bright red or black with narrow reddish lines on the back

Habitat

  • Boxelder bugs may stain curtains or other resting places with fecal spots and they produce a foul odor when they are crushed
  • Adult boxelder bugs will enter structures in the fall seeking shelter over the winter, often infesting in wall voids or attics
  • Their piercing-sucking mouthparts may puncture skin, causing a slight irritation

Diet

  • Boxelder bugs primarily feed by sucking the juices from the boxelder tree, but sometimes found on other plants

Reproduction

  • They will seek out boxelder trees in the spring to feed on and lay eggs

Treatment

  • It is best to treat infested trees during the early summer months
  • Immature stages are much easier to control than adult stages

Cricket Pest Control and Information

Cricket   (Order Orthoptera : Family Gryllidae)

Characteristics

  • Adult crickets grow to be 3/4 inch long with 3 dark bands on the head
  • They have a thin antennae and their body is a yellowish brown

Habitat

  • Crickets are active at night and are attracted to lights

Diet

  • Omnivores, they will eat almost anything
  • They will damage silk, woolens, paper, fruits and vegetables

Characteristics

  • Mosquitoes are distinctive from flies because of their long stinger and scales on their back and veins of their wings

Habitat

  • They are found from the tropics to the arctic
  • Reliant on water source

Diet

  • Adult females are the only ones that feed on blood

Reproduction

  • Larvae and pupae live in water, preferably still waters
